ASEM Treasurer Position Announcement

The American Society for Engineering Management (ASEM) is seeking candidates to fill the position of Treasurer of the Society. The Treasurer is the lead financial official of the Society and serves as a member of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer serves a two year term and is elected by the membership.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Maintain and update financial policies and procedures of the society. Assure they are followed.
  • Develop society budget and track conformance during the year. Publish periodic budget analysis reports.
  • Support executive director and WHQ operations to develop and report key society performance metrics.
  • Review and approve expenditures of funds needed to support society operations.
  • Assure that the society assets are invested securely and appropriately.
  • Monitor the income and expense statement to assure that entries are in the appropriate categories and that the financial position of the society is accurately reflected.
  • Develop and present financial information to support society projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Complete society tax return and conduct annual audit in collaboration with the audit committee.
  • Attend executive committee and board meetings and present needed reports and updates.
  • Advise the Executive Committee and Board on financial matters.

The successful candidate must be a member in good standing of ASEM and have background in financial management and cost analysis systems along with organizational management and leadership skills. Special consideration will be given to those candidates who already have served on the Board of Directors or in other leadership capacities within ASEM or in comparable professional societies. This is a volunteer position; however, any pre-approved costs incurred related to the business of the Society will be reimbursed.
